About the museum
Povhov mlin (Povh Mill) is one of the few preserved mills of this type in the municipality of Prevalje. It stands by the Šentanelska reka (Šentanel River), on the route from Štopar towards Zgornja Jamnica. Beside the mill stand the stope and the retirement house, known as the Mumina hiša after its last resident, Marija Klančnik, who lived there until 1968.
The mill is a masonry building with a shingled roof and three rooms on the ground floor: the milling room, the miller's room and a workshop. It is first mentioned in the land register in 1845 and ground grain regularly until 1950; the Povh family and surrounding farmers had their grain milled here. The mill wheels last turned in 1976. As early as the seventies of the 20th century the mill was assessed as an outstanding cultural monument. In recent years the Navršnik family decided to thoroughly renovate the mill, the stope and the retirement house. The entire mill complex is intended for museum and tourism activities, and the museum provides expert assistance.
