About the museum
The Lutkovni muzej Maribor (Maribor Puppet Museum) is the educational collection of the Lutkovno gledališče Maribor (Maribor Puppet Theatre). It presents fifty years of the theatre’s professional activity in the attic of the renovated little house Tri babe (Three Old Women), which stands on the north side of Vojašniški trg (Vojašniški Square) above the Minoriti information point.
The museum’s most interesting and recognisable puppets, which were made and performed in the theatre, are on show, as well as costumes, sketches and parts of stage designs. The collection presents selected authors and productions from the history of the theatre; a list of the seasons is also published online.
Visitors can try puppet animation on an interactive stage, and part of the exhibition comes to life through augmented reality via the app LutkAR, developed in cooperation with the RUK network. The museum’s emblem is the spider, a marionette that brings the dusty spaces to life. Next to the museum is the Ustvarjalnica (Creative Workshop), a space for learning through play.
