About the museum
The village of Zavrh in the Slovenske gorice hills is linked to viticulture and to the name of General Rudolf Maister, who came to the village to rest. In his memory the local tourist association adopted his name in 1961, and in 1963 they built the Maister Lookout Tower, which was replaced by a new one in 1981.
Local residents began setting up the memorial room in 1982. The collection was given space in the attic of the Štupič Villa and opened its doors on 14 September 1986. When the villa was returned to the descendants in the course of restitution, the room had to move. A new memorial room was opened on 19 November 1999 in the renovated village cooperative hall, today's cultural centre, where visitors are still welcomed.
