About the museum
The Casa del Parque Aizkorri-Aratz, located in Araia next to the hydroelectric power station, serves as the information centre of the natural park and aims to raise awareness of the conservation of natural resources. Its guide is the mitxarro (grey dormouse), a threatened species.
The exhibition, with panels, photographs, presentations and interactive games, covers the machinery of the 18th-century ironworks and water as a source of energy, a reconstruction of an old kitchen with its utensils, and the fauna and flora of the natural park. It also includes an area on renewable energy with the Araia mini hydroelectric plant.
