About the museum
The Parketxe de Arantzazu is the park house and the reception and information centre of the Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park. It stands beside the Arantzazu sanctuary, in the Gandiaga Topagunea II building above the car park, and spreads over more than 600 square metres on three floors.
The permanent exhibition presents the park's most notable features: karst landscapes, pollarded trees and livestock areas. It has a large model, technology-based resources, interactive panels and classrooms for school groups.
From the back of the building begins an accessible path of 1.6 km, with a concrete surface 2 metres wide. It includes a guide strip on the ground for visually impaired people, benches, platforms, viewpoints, information panels and touchable animal models. The centre also organises guided visits and activities such as talo workshops (corn flatbread), orientation games, meetings with pottoka ponies at Pottokaleku, a visit to the Gomiztegi pastoral centre and griffon vulture watching.
