About the museum
The museum occupies a house on Calle Mayor, in the historic centre of Cocentaina. The building dates from the mid-13th century, was remodelled in the 15th century and was completely reformed in the 18th century as a bourgeois house; ornamental features of interest survive on the façade.
The first floor displays a collection of prehistoric materials ranging from the Lower Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age. It also shows how the traditional systems for producing wine, oil and flour worked, the traditional crops of wheat, olive and vine, and original objects and tools from the house that illustrate everyday life in the Comtat region.
The museum's contact point is the Centre d’Estudis Contestans.
