About the museum
In October 1891 the Ruiz Picasso family moved from Málaga, the painter's home city, to Galicia and settled on the second floor of number 14 Calle Payo Gómez in A Coruña, where it lived until April 1895.
The house museum opened on 18 December 2002. The second floor is the family's home, and its main aim is to present the life, work and surroundings of the artist during his time in A Coruña. It retains its timber gallery structure and some original furniture and objects, and reproduces 33 works, four of them by the father and the rest by the young Picasso, integrated into the decoration of the various rooms except the bedrooms.
Among the reproduced works are oil paintings on canvas and on panel, pencil and pen drawings, ink drawings, charcoal drawings and watercolours, as well as an original print by the artist. The ground floor welcomes visitors and hosts temporary exhibitions; the first and third floors are used for complementary activities.
