About the museum
The Centro de Interpretación de la Cultura Argárica (CICA) is the starting point for learning about the El Argar culture, one of the most distinctive civilisations of European prehistory, which more than 4,000 years ago made the lands of Antas one of its essential territories. It is run by Antas town council, which also manages the recreated Argaric settlement on Calle Joica.
The route combines a museum collection, interpretive panels and reproductions. It brings visitors closer to the daily life of the Argaric communities of the Bronze Age: their advanced metalworking, their characteristic pottery, their complex social organisation and the distinctive burials that set them apart in the western Mediterranean.
The centre can be visited independently or on a guided tour, which requires advance booking. Joint visits with the Argaric settlement are offered, as well as school programmes with workshops on archaeology, grain grinding, archery and prehistoric jewellery. In summer the CICA also hosts an outdoor cultural programme on Thursday evenings at the Mirador Pedro Flores.
