About the museum
The Centro de Interpretación de la Miel is in Sagallos, a village in the municipality of Manzanal de Arriba in the Zamora province, in the heart of the Sierra de la Culebra and a few kilometres from the Parque Natural del Lago de Sanabria. It is a municipal facility devoted to beekeeping and hive products.
The route includes a honey museum and a wax press, where it is explained how these products are obtained and worked. Guided visits are offered in Spanish, English and Portuguese and can be combined with a visit to live beehives.
The centre also organises gastronomy workshops with honey as the star ingredient, medicinal plant workshops in which wax is used to make creams, and children's activities such as storytelling, crafts and beekeeping games.
