About the museum
The Centro de Interpretación de Nuevo Baztán opened in 2003 in the former wine cellar of the town’s industrial complex, a settlement founded at the beginning of the 18th century on the initiative of Juan de Goyeneche. It belongs to the network of cultural spaces of the Community of Madrid and is located on Calle del Arco, next to the historic centre.
The exhibition presents Goyeneche, the promoter of the project, and the architectural plan of the village, the work of José de Churriguera. Through models, panels, replicas and an audiovisual, it explains the industries that were set up in the town and the lives of both men.
The centre also organises activities and visits for groups. At the time of writing, the room remains closed for renovation works until further notice.
