About the museum
The Capilla-Museo de la Cofradía del Rollo, formally the Cofradía del Ecce-Homo, opened in 1997 to safeguard the heritage of a brotherhood founded in 1941. It is on Calle Portillo de la Glorieta, very close to Calle del Rollo, in the historic centre of Jumilla.
The space keeps the floats that the brotherhood carries in procession during Jumilla's Holy Week, a festival declared of International Tourist Interest. Among them stand out the Ecce-Homo (1942), by Juan González Moreno, and the Descent from the Cross (1952), by José Planes. Works by the sculptor José Antonio Hernández Navarro are also exhibited.
The chapel also retains its religious use: Mass is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
