About the museum
The Museo de Semana Santa de Jumilla occupies the Ermita de San Antón, a Baroque hermitage of 1611 on the old road to Granada. After its restoration, the building was assigned in August 2002 to the Junta Central de Hermandades de Semana Santa (central council of Holy Week brotherhoods) to house the museum of a festival declared of International Tourist Interest.
The interior retains rococo-style plasterwork on the vault and windows, and the cross of San Antón stands out. The museum serves as an exhibition space for the Holy Week of Jumilla: it shows a selection of religious images, banners and brotherhood robes, as well as objects and accessories used in the processions.
The works on display include the Cristo de las Cinco Llagas (Vázquez Juncal, 1993) and the Aparición a Santa María Magdalena (Hernández Navarro, 1993). The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions related to Holy Week.
