About the museum
The museum is in the centre of Cee, in the building known as the former Escola de Nenas, which the Fundación Fernando Blanco de Lema erected on the site of the benefactor's house. The foundation is named after a Galician philanthropist who had returned from America.
The core of the collection comes from the former chairs, laboratories and cabinets of the old secondary school of Cee, dating from the late 19th century. Scientific instruments predominate, including measuring devices of various kinds and mechanical, acoustic and optical apparatus, alongside collections of animals, minerals and fossils.
Over time, teaching material from other subjects and historical and educational documents have been added. The holdings are completed by artworks, including pieces by Federico de Madrazo, prints from the Calcografía Nacional and religious goldsmith work in precious metals.
