About the museum
DA2 Domus Artium 2002 opened in April 2002 to mark Salamanca's designation as European Capital of Culture. It is a contemporary art centre owned by Salamanca City Council and managed by the Fundación Salamanca Ciudad de Cultura y Saberes. It was created to meet the need for a specialised, active space for contemporary art that is open to the public, in a city that wanted to combine its historic heritage with a current programme.
Its exhibition programme is temporary and focuses on the latest trends in national and international art, especially work made since the 1990s. The centre also supports local artists and the artistic community of Castilla y León through a call for grants for contemporary creation.
The DA2 collection was formed from around three hundred works selected from the most outstanding of the annual programmes since 2002. In 2023 it grew considerably with the donation of the Colección de la Fundación Coca-Cola, which brings together more than four hundred works of Spanish and Portuguese contemporary art. Today the holdings exceed seven hundred works by leading national and international artists, and are shown in thematic exhibitions with guest curators.
The centre also organises free guided tours, visits to its storerooms and educational projects in collaboration with other institutions in the city.
