About the museum
The Ecomuseo de Tordehumos was founded on 15 May 1997 under the auspices of the Centre for Rural Development “El Sequillo”. It was set up in the yard of a former farmhouse where the village priest had lived, in order to gather the simple but essential objects of everyday life in the villages of Tierra de Campos and to preserve the cultural legacy of their inhabitants.
The ethnographic collection comes from donations by local residents, who handed over utensils stored in attics and yards. The visit begins in the farmhouse, with the bedroom (alcoba) and the kitchen, where earthenware vessels, antique furniture and the tasks of the rural woman are on display: preserving the products of the pig slaughter, making cheese and bread, spinning wool and washing clothes.
Other rooms are dedicated to farm work and herding and to traditional crafts: farmer, shoemaker, blacksmith, mason, carpenter, laundress and folk healer (curandero).
