About the museum
The Espai de la via mètrica is the conservation centre for historic vehicles of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) for the Llobregat-Anoia line, the company’s metre-gauge network. It is located next to Martorell Central station and brings together a collection that was previously spread across different depots.
More than twenty locomotives, coaches and wagons that served the line up to the present day, both passenger and freight, are on display, explaining the evolution of rail transport in Catalonia. The vehicles are catalogued as historic heritage and have been restored by the company itself.
The visit includes, in addition to the historic pieces, explanatory panels on the origin of each vehicle, commemorative leaflets and a permanent FGC exhibition. The tour is led by company staff, lasts about 40 minutes and is suitable for all audiences, with particular interest for those who follow railway history.
