About the museum
The Espai Guinovart opened in 1994 at the initiative of the artist Josep Guinovart himself, who wanted to create a contemporary art space in Agramunt and to show his work there on a permanent basis. It was the first contemporary art centre created in the Lleida region, and it is run by a private foundation, the Fundació Privada Espai Guinovart Agramunt.
The core of the centre is a permanent installation devoted to Agramunt, its landscape and its people. It is built around three major works: “El Mural de las Cuatro Estaciones”, conceived as an enveloping ensemble rather than a chronological route, so that each visitor can choose their own path; “La Cabaña”, a space within another space of about 40 m² with an oak tree in the centre; and “La Era”, a circular threshing floor about 5.5 metres in diameter.
In addition to the permanent installation, the space stages temporary exhibitions, including shows by other artists in “El Petit Espai”, and offers guided visits, workshops and educational activities for schools and families.
