About the museum
In 1991 the poet and artist Guillem Viladot bought a building in the plaça del Pare Gras in Agramunt to turn it into “Lo Pardal”. The space became the Casa de la Poesia Visual and was soon enlarged with two new buildings, where Viladot arranged his visual poems, poetic objects and volumetric works in a creative way. His intention was to create the first space dedicated to this genre in Catalonia and in Spain, and also to pay tribute to his roots in Agramunt.
Little by little the spaces filled with visual creations, which the poet arranged according to criteria of sensitivity and an initiatory route, avoiding labels and chronologies. The arrangement invites visitors to look at the works as evidence of authorship and to enter the paths of a visual poetics guided by the senses. The stone reliefs on the façade, with an eye, an ear, a hand and a foot, and a pedestal with an upside-down “Q”, announce the entrance.
Today Lo Pardal is run by the Fundació Privada Guillem Viladot, which maintains the permanent collection, organizes temporary exhibitions and offers educational activities and an archive on the author. The foundation's website also presents the Parc de Riella, a distinctive space that brings together Viladot's poetic and artistic universe.
