About the museum
The museum opened on 8 June 2005 in the Casa Pintada, an 18th-century palatial house known for its sgraffito decoration and declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. It arose from a joint project of Mula town council and the Cristóbal Gabarrón Foundation, and is run by the Fundación Casa Pintada.
The permanent exhibition, “Gabarrón sin límites”, occupies eight rooms and traces the career of the artist, born in Mula in 1945, with drawing, video, photography, prints, painting and installations, as well as sculptures in bronze, marble, ceramics and silver.
Other spaces host temporary exhibitions by emerging and contemporary artists. The museum has a library and documentation centre, a shop and an educational programme with workshops for children and for all ages.
