About the museum
The Museo del Vino de Bullas is housed in a 19th-century cellar that belonged to the Melgares de Aguilar family and retains its brick vaults and half-buried tinajas. Covering more than 1,400 square metres, it produced some 350,000 litres of wine a year and was, in the mid-19th century, one of the largest in the former Kingdom of Murcia. The museum was created within the VINEST project as a response to the wine-growing tradition of the area and as a centre for services and tourism and cultural promotion.
The permanent exhibition follows a logical order, with an introductory audiovisual and nine sections: geographical setting, physical environment, the vine, viticulture, winemaking, traditional winemaking, tasting, practical advice and quality, with a space for the wineries of the Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) Bullas. It clearly distinguishes traditional procedures from current ones. It offers audio commentaries in Spanish, English, French and German, as well as a temporary exhibition room and a shop.
In September 2026, accessibility improvements were announced, such as tactile maps, signage, videos in sign language and other resources.
