About the museum
The church of San Miguel was built in the last third of the 12th century in the Romanesque style and is one of the three historic churches that survive in Ledesma, together with Santa María la Mayor and Santa Elena. The original north gable and a semicircular apse are preserved; the Neoclassical doorway dates from 1782.
The building now houses the Centro de Interpretación Histórica de Ledesma, known as BLETISA, a route through the history of the town from antiquity to the present day. The exhibition combines museum material, virtual reconstructions, light effects and interactives to show the landscape, daily life and the aspirations of the people of the area. The contents are also available in English and French. The Tourist Office of Ledesma is in the same building.
