About the museum
The MASS, Museo Azul de la Semana Santa, displays the heritage of the Hermandad de Labradores, known as the Paso Azul, one of the Holy Week brotherhoods of Lorca, which holds the title of International Tourist Interest. It is housed in the former convent of San Francisco, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, which was fully restored after the 2011 earthquakes.
The museum has an embroidery workshop and displays the main mantles and treasures of the Paso Azul. Among its pieces are the black mantle of the Virgen de los Dolores, dating from 1856, and standards from the early 20th century that are declared Properties of Cultural Interest. Its website presents it as the largest museum in the Region of Murcia and the largest collection of artistic embroidery in Lorca’s Holy Week.
The admission includes access to the church of San Francisco, the seat of the brotherhood, with Baroque altarpieces, paintings by Camacho, an 18th-century organ and the processional images.
