About the museum

The Museo Aloe Vera Ibiza is located in the middle of an organic aloe vera plantation, beside the Sant Antoni road (km 13), in the municipality of Sant Antoni de Portmany. It opened in 2016 and, according to the company, is the only museum dedicated to this plant in the Balearic Islands. It belongs to Ibizaloe, an island producer of cosmetics and organic aloe vera, and since 2017 the plantation has been open to visitors with a guide free of charge.

The exhibition traces the history of aloe vera through different civilisations and the historical figures who used it, such as Christopher Columbus, Cleopatra, Alexander the Great or Mahatma Gandhi, and explains its uses and therapeutic applications.

The guided visit lasts about 45 minutes and is given in several languages. It includes a walk through the plantation, live demonstrations of leaf cutting and gel extraction, and a tasting of products. Capacity is limited and booking in advance on the website is required. At the end visitors can see the shop, which sells aloe vera products and other typical Ibiza goods, and the recreation area with a giant swing.
