About the museum
The Aula del Mar is a municipal museum and interpretation centre in Roquetas de Mar, beside the port, near the lighthouse (Faro) and the Castillo de Santa Ana. It is devoted to making known the town’s relationship with its coast, and to environmental education and the conservation of the marine environment.
Across some 500 m² it brings together spaces for experiencing the sea, an area on cetaceans and dolphins, the Posidonia oceanica meadow, marine pollution, the fishing tradition and the town’s archaeological past. It has teaching resources such as videos, interactive games, audio and documentaries. The town council has renewed the exhibition content, and the texts are also available in English and German.
