About the museum
The Museo Casa de la Ciencia de Sevilla is an open space for scientific outreach and educational and cultural leisure. It belongs to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), which shapes its content, and it works with the collaboration of the Junta de Andalucía.
The building, designed by the architect Manuel Piqueras Cotolí, is part of the heritage complex of the Exposición Iberoamericana de 1929 and is one of the most representative buildings of Peruvian architecture. It belongs to Seville City Council, which has temporarily ceded it to the CSIC, and it shares the premises with the Consulate of Peru in Seville.
The museum combines permanent exhibitions on subjects such as the cetaceans of Andalusia, Andalusian biodiversity and the geological history of the province of Seville with temporary exhibitions that are renewed each school year. It also has a planetarium and, every weekend, workshops, demonstrations and guided visits designed for families.
