About the museum
The Museo de Aloe de Lanzarote is an interpretation centre dedicated to the cultivation of aloe vera on the island. It is run by the company Aloe Plus Lanzarote, which operates similar centres at Punta Mujeres, Arrieta and Yaiza. Tourist guides to the island date its opening to 2008 and describe it as a place of tourist and cultural interest.
The visit, which is conducted with a guide, explains why Lanzarote's climate and volcanic soils favour the quality of the aloe, how a leaf is cut and what the plant is used for. It also shows how products are made from it. Part of the route is devoted to other resources of the island, such as salt, cochineal, volcanic ash and wine. The audiovisual material has subtitles.
