About the museum
The museum's collection began to be assembled in 1995 at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación of the Universitat Politècnica de València. It now comprises more than 700 pieces from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries and is regarded as the most important collection of its kind in the Valencian Community. It is a science and technology museum that shares its building with the school's teaching and research activities.
It is named after Vicente Miralles Segarra, a Valencian telecommunications engineer who graduated in 1926 and worked in telegraphy, telephony and broadcasting in Madrid and Valencia until 1967.
The permanent exhibition offers a chronological route with more than 300 pieces in 52 display cabinets, organised into five areas: telegraphy, telephony, audiovisual equipment, radio communications and instrumentation. Exhibits include Morse telegraph transmitters and receivers, radios from the 1920s to the 1970s, phonographs and gramophones from the late 19th century, and fixed telephones from the 20th century. Some objects are unique in the Valencian Community. The museum also has a library and runs educational workshops.
