About the museum
The museum was founded on the initiative of Juan Gil Moreno, a cabinetmaker and businessman from Hervás, who began gathering old motorcycles and gradually expanded the project to include other period means of transport. It is presented as the first collection of its kind in Europe and was the first dedicated to classic motorcycles in Spain.
The complex stands on the outskirts of the town, next to the Garganta road, and is notable for its curved forms and the gardens around it. It consists of a reception and café pavilion, eight exhibition pavilions and a viewpoint overlooking the Ambroz Valley.
The collection brings together European and American motorcycles and cars from 1920 to 1970, as well as carriages, tricycles and doll's prams. It illustrates everyday life in the first three quarters of the 20th century, from the 1920s through the post-war years to the 1960s and 1970s. The site also includes a small museum of an old oil mill with its machinery, and an area with animals.
