About the museum

The collection began in 1998 at the initiative of a Totana Local Police officer, who wanted the headquarters to have a recognisable police look. With the support of the town council and the force’s staff, it started with exchanges of shoulder badges with police officers from other cities and countries, and later plaques, headgear, pins, key rings and deactivated weapons were added.

The police offices occupy the former Contribuciones building, where a small area was fitted out to display the pieces and to receive visits from schools, citizens and professionals from other forces. The badges, framed and grouped by country or specialism, are spread across the various rooms, mainly the public reception area.

The holdings also include around ten complete uniforms of different forces, more than a hundred items of headgear, one of the first motorcycles of the Totana Local Police, restored, old photographs of the “guindillas” (police officers), and the 1904 regulations for the municipal night watchmen (serenos) of Totana. Since 2003 there has also been a website dedicated to the collection.
