Museo del Cereal

Free museum in the Arco del Alcocer in Arévalo on the region’s relationship with cereal, from prehistory to the present day.

Opening hoursFree admission

About the museum

The Museo del Cereal occupies the Arco del Alcocer, one of the old gates in the walls that surrounded Arévalo, in the former prison building, of which some remains survive. Several rooms show, through objects, information panels and audiovisuals, the link between the land and cereal from prehistory to the present day.

The exhibition is presented as a tribute to the ancestors and as a contribution to sustainability in an environment closely tied to agriculture.

In another building, the Casa del Concejo on the Plaza del Real, is the Centro de Interpretación de la Naturaleza (Nature Interpretation Centre), which appears together with the museum on the same tourist portal. It also occupies a former prison and retains some original cells and doors. Its main exhibition is a set of dioramas reproducing the region’s main ecosystems and the species that inhabit them; a monitor shows a live feed from a camera installed on the tower of the church of Santa María, from which the stork nests can be observed.
