About the museum
The Museo del Vino de Cangas, in the Santisu district (Cangas del Narcea), presents the winemaking tradition of south-western Asturias and the long relationship of the area with vine cultivation and winemaking. The museum is municipal and has two spaces: a 2010 building housing the permanent exhibition, which can be toured freely, and the Santiso lagar, a traditional winery that can only be visited with a guide.
The permanent exhibition covers the history of wine in Cangas, work in the vineyard and the cellar, the native grape varieties and a viticulture shaped by steep slopes. It uses traditional objects, audiovisual resources and interpretive panels. At the Santiso lagar, a guided visit of about 20 minutes explains how wine was traditionally made beside a large beam press; capacity is limited and booking is recommended.
For families, the museum offers Marco Topo, an interactive activity for children aged 5 to 12 based on challenges that guide the visit; it combines printed material and digital content, works on a mobile phone or tablet without downloading any app, and is included in the admission price. The Paseo del Vino links the Santiso winery district with other places in the surroundings.
