About the museum

The Museo Etnográfico de Castilla y León, in Zamora, holds one of the finest ethnographic collections in Spain: objects and tools of everyday life linked to the traditions, uses and customs of the region, such as farm implements, carts, looms and furniture. Its holdings cover both material and intangible culture and include pieces such as craft tools, reliquaries and amulets, which reflect practices found across much of western Europe.

Its creation aimed to centralise the study and dissemination of the scientific disciplines linked to the ethnographic heritage and, through the narrative of the exhibition, to invite visitors to reflect on the individual, life in common and the capacity to face the problems posed by the environment.
