About the museum
The museum is in one of the most historic corners of Cambados, very close to the remains of the medieval church of Santa Mariña Dozo, dating from the 15th century. The town is considered the capital of albariño wine, and the town council presents the museum as the first museum of its kind to open in Galicia.
The exhibition covers everything related to growing the vine and making wine: the history, art and popular culture surrounding it, the different grape varieties and the process of making the wines of the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin.
The site also has a garden displaying the sculptural group “Loureiro” by Manolo Paz, an artist born in the Cambados parish of Castrelo. It consists of large granite goblets, beside which a wine press (lagar) is preserved.
