About the museum
The museum occupies a former bread oven from the 14th century, which was in use until the last third of the 20th century and preserves elegant Gothic arches. The building was erected following a privilege issued by Infante Don Juan in Zaragoza on 27 February 1378, which granted an oven in the Alpuente arrabal because the previous one had been destroyed during the war with Castile and the existing one was not sufficient for the town's large population.
The collection brings together a varied display of objects from everyday life in the region, most of them now out of use: farming tools, utensils for making bread and other household items. The museum reopened in 2017 with a renewed exhibition.
The permanent exhibition focuses on the communal management of the territory and the collective organisation of society in Alpuente, with particular attention to the cereal cycle and the use of ovens of Moorish origin.
