About the museum
The Museo Paleontológico de Alpuente, known as MUPAL, brings together a representative sample of the fossils of the La Serranía region. Alpuente is known in the world of palaeontology for the numerous and important dinosaur sites in its municipal area.
Its rooms display, among other pieces, fossil remains of various types of dinosaurs. The town council, in collaboration with the Universitat de València and the Xarxa de Museus of the Diputació de València, has also set up the Aula de Recuperación Paleontológica, a space where the dinosaur remains found in the municipality are cleaned, reconstructed and studied.
Each autumn the museum is the focus of the Jornadas de Puertas Abiertas de Paleontología (palaeontology open days), with visits, educational workshops and games for families.
