About the museum
The Museo Municipal de Jérica was created in 1946 to gather and display archaeological and ethnological objects found in the town. Its epigraphic collection is the best known: it brings together Roman funerary tombstones, among them that of Qvintia Proba. Jérica is one of the villages of the Alto Palancia where the most tombstones of this type have appeared, and it is thought that some were carved in a local workshop.
The museum also holds a Gothic altarpiece dedicated to Saint George, dated to the 15th century, the banner of the Reconquest (13th century) and the tomb of Roque Ceverio (12th century). The holdings are completed by a set of tiles from the 14th to the 19th centuries.
