About the museum
Titania is one of the seven venues of Territorio Dinópolis, the palaeontological network of the province of Teruel, and is located in Riodeva, east of the village and near the Hermitage of the Purísima Concepción. It opened in 2012. The centre is partly excavated into a rock wall and has more than 600 square metres of exhibition space.
Its theme is gigantism, with the spotlight on Turiasaurus riodevensis, the largest dinosaur in Europe, which was found in this municipality in 2003 and of which more than 40% of the skeleton is known. It is one of the most important palaeontological finds in the province of Teruel.
The exhibition includes a life-size replica of the front half of the skeleton, including its skull, as well as replicas of bones of other dinosaurs found at Riodeva sites, such as diplodocids, stegosaurids, ornithopods and carnivores. There are also reconstructions at 1:10 scale showing what they looked like in life, and the landscape in which they lived some 150 million years ago is explained on the basis of the rocks and strata of Riodeva. The visit lasts about one hour and is guided.
