About the museum
The Centro de Interpretación de las Tierras Bañezanas (CITBA) opened in January 2011 in a Modernist (modernista) building from the early 20th century, originally built as a hotel. Between 1926 and 1996 it operated as the flour mill known as “La Única”, and it has kept its structure and the original machinery, restored.
The museum traces the history of La Bañeza and its district, from the Asturian and Roman periods to the everyday life of more recent centuries. It shows farming, livestock and traditional trades such as pottery, linen weaving, leather tanning, milling, and bread and confectionery making.
The municipal tourist office of La Bañeza is also based in the same building.
