About the museum
The museum is dedicated to the Fallas of Valencia, a festival recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is housed in a former convent which over time was also used as a barracks, warehouse and prison, and it is municipally owned.
Its main collection consists of the ninots indultats, the figures saved from the flames by a public vote. Since 1934 one ninot from the large falla has been pardoned each year and, since 1963, another from the children's falla. The museum thus preserves a kind of anthology of almost a century of falla sculpture.
As well as the ninots, the museum displays posters announcing the Fallas, portraits of the falleras mayores of Valencia, historical photographs and videos, and prizes and badges from the falla committees. An audio guide in five languages, which works on the visitor's own phone or tablet, helps guide the route.
