About the museum
The Centro de Interpretación Rocío Jurado, popularly known as Museo Rocío Jurado, pays tribute to the singer and actress from Chipiona. The project began in 2010; the building, a rehabilitated hall of the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Chipiona, was ready around 2011, but it did not open to the public until much later. The renovation of the building cost about two million euros.
After an economic agreement between the town council and the artist’s heir, Rocío Carrasco, in January 2020, the official inauguration took place on the night of 2 July 2022, and the public could visit from 7 July of that year. The items on display belong to her daughter and have been handed over to the municipality under that agreement.
The exhibition brings together more than 400 of the artist’s dresses, her grand piano, her Mercedes, her awards and numerous personal mementos. The centre also aims to become a space for the study of Spanish song and Andalusian copla. It is on Avenida de Granada, on the outskirts of Chipiona.
