About the museum

O Enredo do Abelleiro was born from the passion of Isidro Pardo for bees. What began as a hobby became a honey museum, and today his daughters carry on the work of its founder. The aim of this family space is to make visitors aware of the importance of the bee.

It presents itself as a living museum: it shows both the beekeeping of earlier generations and the methods and products of modern beekeeping. It is located in Portodemouros, in an environment with botanical and nectar-bearing plants, where the hives occupy a prominent place and the glass hives attract attention.

The main building houses the exhibition and the shop, with the range of products obtained from a hive, and a permanent photographic gallery on the life of the swarm. Three rooms allow visitors to follow the extraction, settling and bottling of honey, and there is also a laboratory, a classroom for 75 people and a beekeeper's workshop. Outside are a modern apiary, an old apiary with traditional hives (trobos, cobos and cortizos), a traditional alacena, a glazed hexagon and a garden with nectar-bearing and medicinal plants.
