About the museum
The museum brings together the collection of the collector Tomàs Pla, built up over more than two decades with classic toys manufactured mainly in Spain. It opened in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, in a 19th-century building on the Rambla, and celebrated its 26th anniversary in August 2026.
In September 2023 it closed temporarily to move to a new space on the same Rambla, somewhat closer to the beach. The new venue has less floor area but more display cases, so more pieces are now shown than before, from a holding of more than 10,000 pieces.
The route is chronological and, through toys, covers some 150 years of Spanish history, from the 1870s to around 1985. Among the manufacturers and pieces represented are scale trains from Spanish brands such as Jos-Fel, Electrotren and Manamo, the Mariquita Pérez dolls, tin and plastic toys by Payá, rocking horses, a puppet theatre and a carousel. The museum also has a shop with reproductions of old toys.
