About the museum

The Museu de l'Artista Faller is located in the Ciudad del Artista Fallero, a complex of workshops built between 1962 and 1969 to house the falla artists of Valencia. It opened in February 1993 and, after a renovation in 2019 and 2020, has had a temporary exhibition room since 2020. It is the only museum space in the Benicalap district.

The museum focuses on the craft of the falla artist rather than on the festival, and shows work by professional artists, above all ninots saved from the fire, along with alternative artistic works. It is registered as a museum collection of the Comunitat Valenciana (Valencian Community), is part of the Xarxa Valenciana de Museus Fallers and holds the Espai Artesà distinction.

The ninot collection brings together figures and groups from large and children's fallas, some from the early 20th century, and shows the evolution from the parot to expanded polystyrene. The sketch room holds original drawings, some from the twenties, and covers and issues of the magazine L'Artista Faller. The visit is completed by models in plaster or plasticine and a complete traditional falla showing every step of its construction. The documentary “Fent Falles”, 13 minutes long, is also screened.
