About the museum
The Museu Sanahuja grew out of the Sanahuja family’s passion for the world of gaming and entertainment. Over some twenty years the family acquired unique and collectors’ pieces from all over the world until it had built a private collection which, according to its website, is today one of the largest private museums in Europe devoted to the history of the gaming sector. Behind the project is Jaume Sanahuja, president of the MGA group.
The collection is housed in an industrial shed in Sabadell of more than 3,000 square metres and, according to the specialist press, comprises around 600 machines, which are kept in working order through periodic technical checks. It is organised into four sections: arcades, pinballs, jukeboxes (gramolas) and slot machines (máquinas tragaperras).
The museum does not operate as a regular open centre: the website invites enquiries to receive information about the collection and how to visit it, and the press notes that visits are arranged in advance. In 2022 it hosted the first international pinball tournament in Catalonia.
