About the museum
The Palacio del Mayorazgo is a 17th-century building in Arcos de la Frontera, with a façade in the Herrerian style, Tuscan columns and a pediment bearing the coat of arms of the Núñez de Prado family. On the upper floor it has a square balcony with Mudéjar elements. Inside, two courtyards with columns and large halls with coffered ceilings have been preserved.
Today it houses the Municipal Culture Office, and several of its rooms are used for exhibitions. These include the Sala de la Molinera y el Corregidor, with original costumes and part of the props from the film based on this story; the Sala de Antonio el Bailarín; the Rincón de Poetas y Escritores (corner for poets and writers); and the Sala de la Fundación Víctor Marín. On the ground floor are the Galería Municipal de Arte and the Jardín Andaluz. The town council has a rehabilitation project under way to turn the palace into a cultural centre.
