About the museum
The Museo del Queso (Cheese Museum) grew out of the El Bosqueño cheese dairy, a pioneering company in the Sierra de Cádiz that makes its products with milk from two native breeds, the Payoya goat and the Merina Grazalemeña sheep. The high demand for visits to the factory led the company to create a space where the artisanal cheese-making process could be showcased and the history of this food explored.
The museum is located at the entrance to El Bosque, next to the covered bullring, and combines the exhibition with the company’s direct-sales shop. Graphic panels explain the different stages of cheese production, and there are reproductions of a Payoya goat and a Merina Grazalemeña sheep, traditional tools and a re-creation of an old cheese dairy.
The route includes a projection room and an area for tastings and workshops. For groups, schools and associations, guided visits with an audiovisual and tasting are arranged, as well as a cheese-making workshop adapted for children.
