About the museum
2047 Science Center, formerly Framtidsmuseet, is Sweden’s first science center. Operations began on 30 November 1986. The building is a center of learning in natural science, technology and mathematics and acts as a hub between schools, higher education and industry in Dalarna. Borlänge Municipality is the principal organiser.
Visitors are greeted by interactive exhibitions and experimental areas where you can try things out yourself, for example Pixelvärldar and Stål. In the Ljungbergsplanetariet, which has 38 seats beneath a spherical dome 7.3 meters in diameter, films and guided planetarium programs are shown. The planetarium has recently been upgraded with the Digistar 7 software and new projectors.
Alongside the exhibitions, the center works with schools at all levels, offers teacher training, events during school holidays and children’s birthday parties. According to the center, around 50,000 people visited the exhibition in the past year, and nearly 20,000 pupils took part in its educational programs.
