About the museum
Skolmuseet i Djurmo (Djurmo School Museum) lies in the old village school in the middle of the village. The school was built in 1865 and was in use until 1942.
In the schoolroom there are old-fashioned school benches, slate boards, ink wells and a pointer on the teacher's desk, as well as hartassen (resin pads) that served as erasers. The fittings have been collected from various schools in Gagnef. The teacher's home is furnished as it looked in the past, so that visitors can experience the school and the teacher's home as they were in great-great-grandmother's day. The museum also has a collection of school photographs from Gagnef's schools, the oldest from 1898.
