About the museum
Kråsebo is an eel hut (ålabod) in the southern part of Baskemölla fishing hamlet, north of Simrishamn. The building is owned by Baskemölla hembygdsförening (Baskemölla Local Heritage Association), which was formed on 21 August 1986 and has the task of preserving culture and traditions and promoting community in the village.
In the eel hut and in the neighboring net shed, Ivan o Nisses garnbod, the association has tried to recreate the old genuine atmosphere with the smell of tar. Collections of old local fishing gear are shown there, telling of fishing along the coast.
Outside Kråsebo the association is building an authentic setting intended to resemble the fishing hamlet when fishing was active. The association also looks after Willies hus in the village, which is used as a community hall.
