Naturum Stenshuvud

About the museum

Naturum Stenshuvud is the visitor centre for Stenshuvud National Park in Österlen, just south of Kivik. The national park was established in 1986 and is managed by the County Administrative Board of Skåne (Länsstyrelsen Skåne). The naturum is at the main entrance in the middle of the park and is the starting point for many of the marked trails, including the blue trail that runs down to the sea.

Staff at the naturum answer questions, give tips before visits and help visitors find their way around the area. The exhibition on the lower level tells the story of the park's different natural habitats, plants and animals, and of cultural remains such as stone rows (stensträngar) and clearance cairns (röjningsrösen). The texts are short and easy to read, and those who want to know more can read deeper texts.

During autumn and summer, guided walks are organised in the park, and guided tours can be booked for schools and groups. For children there is, among other things, a painting table, stories to read and a quiz walk (tipspromenad).

The exhibition is one flight of stairs down and is reached by lift. Toilets are next to the naturum.

The naturum is at the main entrance, signposted from road 9. From Kivik, signs lead to the northern entrance.
